Total Harmonic Distortion Monitoring Harmonic distortion is very damaging to motors, transformers, sensitive electronic equipment, and capacitors. Before steps can be taken to compensate for this distortion (filtering, mitigation techniques, etc), it is important to know the nature of the distortion. Carlo Gavazzi offers meters and transducers for monitoring the total harmonic distortion as well as the individual harmonics up to the 50th harmonic (both current and voltage). In addition, we also provide the harmonic phase angle indicating whether the harmonic is load generated or source generated.
